Aussee Baroque Days 2026 - Accademia del Piacere under the direction of Fahmi Alquai and with the singer Alba Carmona

In the first concert of the Aussee Baroque Days 2026, we immerse ourselves in the passionate world of Spanish music. The internationally successful ensemble Accademia del Piacere, led by the celebrated gambist Fahmi Alquai, which performs at numerous renowned festivals throughout Europe and overseas, brings together the gems of Spanish baroque music with the primal vigour of flamenco and the sensuality of tango in a delightful dialogue. Authentic Spanish baroque music is juxtaposed with contemporary flamenco, masterfully interpreted by the singer Alba Carmona, a new, young star of the flamenco scene. For one evening, Alba Carmona and Fahmi Alqhai will join forces with the Accademia del Piacere ensemble to search for the points of contact between traditional music and contemporary sound, creating a unique, bold fusion. Both musical styles, flamenco as well as the baroque chaconas and marionas, siguriyas and tangos, have seen the big wide world, have travelled across the seas from Andalusia to South America and back to Andalusia again to find their very own style. Deeply rooted musical styles such as flamenco are constantly growing new branches from the trunk of their traditions, creating a constant interaction between the new and the old. An intoxicating sound experience!
